Starting The Ensemble

Last Thursday, we started learning about how to play with the kolintang. We've known about how to hold the mallets but now we started to learn on which mallets to use on which instrument. The melodies and altos uses the mallets with the dark green colour. The tenors uses the mint green coloured mallets, and the contras and bass uses the brown coloured mallets. I personally chose to play in the melodies because that's the easiest one for me and I' am used to it. We started with the 1-2-1 exercise and worked our way through one octave. Afterwards we learned a new exercise with the  3-1-3 rhythm. It was a fun and easy way to ease out the way to play the kolintang and so we can learn in harmony.
